Chocolate chip cookies are beloved treats enjoyed by everyone around the world. These delightful baked goods feature a perfect balance of sweetness and a satisfying crunch, with the gooey goodness of chocolate chips.
Typically, chocolate chip cookies are associated with comfort and indulgence. However, certain variations of this timeless treat incorporate ingredients that are believed to have metabolism-boosting properties. TikTok creator @jeruthefoodie, who boasts over 54K followers on the app, shared a guilt-free chocolate chip cookie recipe that not only helped her with losing 12 pounds but also aids in metabolism.
She starts by saying, “whenever I’m craving something really sweet, but also want to activate my metabolism, I just have these.”
In a bowl, add 1 cup peanut butter or almond butter, 1 cup brown sugar, 2tbsp chia seed pudding (or 1 egg), 1tbsp baking soda, 2 tbsp flax seeds, and 1/2 tbsp chia seeds. Mix all those ingredients together and then add in your chocolate chips and mix again.
She bakes them in the oven at 350 for 9-10 minutes. This recipe makes about 12 cookies, with each one being 220 calories.
This chocolate chip cookie recipe features a lineup of ingredients that bring a healthy twist to the classic treat. Starting with a base of peanut butter or almond butter, you introduce a dose of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and protein, providing a satiating element to the cookies.
The use of brown sugar adds sweetness but also retains some minerals and nutrients compared to refined sugar. The incorporation of chia seed pudding or a single egg contributes omega-3 fatty acids and protein, promoting a feeling of fullness and providing essential nutrients.
Furthermore, flax seeds and half a tablespoon of chia seeds introduce an extra boost of fiber, antioxidants, and omega-3s, offering potential benefits for heart health.
