Subway is everyone's favorite sandwich shop! It have everything you can dream of for your sub and it's so tasty you can eat a whole foot long in a matter of minutes. Although you may think that a sandwich is totally fine for your diet, eating the wrong one could end up overloading your body on fat, salt, and oil.

That's right, not all sandwiches are good for you! Many people think that a sandwich is a healthier option for dieting, which isn't 100 percent true. For example, eating a footlong Fritos Chicken Enchilada Melt with Southwest Sauce from Subway can add up to 1,360 calories!

In order for your sandwich to be healthy, you have to add the right ingredients to it. Everything, from the bread you use to the condiments you add, could make or break your "healthy" meal. So, what's a healthier sandwich option from Subway, then?

It's the Oven Roasted Chicken Sandwich! This 6-inch sub adds up to 233 calories, a small amount for such a big sandwich! Dietitian Jim White says " If I were working out that day, I’d choose a 6-inch whole-wheat sub (to give me some energy for my workout), with roasted chicken (which has lean protein to build muscle), lettuce, tomato, onions, green peppers and cucumbers. For my condiment, I use Dijon mustard rather than mayo because it’s low-cal but still has lots of flavor."

So, if you're taking a trip to Subway, definitely try the Oven Roasted Chicken sandwich to lower your caloric intake. But order it on whole grain bread over white bread to avoid adding empty carbs and sugar to your meal. And remember, it's all about moderation, so don't eat a whole footlong at once!
