When you’re trying to lose weight, your routine is basically centered around filling your diet with as many healthy, nutritious ingredients you can find and turning down all of the high carb, high fat and low protein foods that we so often crave. This hard work will almost always pay off in the end as you accomplish your health goals, but sometimes obstacles can get in the way. One of the most irksome of these obstacles is a “healthy” food that is really an unhealthy food in disguise.
And is there anything worse than bad foods disguised as healthy foods?
That’s right - there are some foods you might even be eating right now that are not as good for you as you might think. In fact, there is one food that almost everyone views as healthy but in reality, it can ruin your metabolism and cause fat gain.
The culprit is none other than wheat bread. Considered by most to be the best option of all breads, whole wheat is actually not always as “whole” as we want it to be.
Breads advertised as “wheat bread” are marketed as the healthier alternative to white breads. But if this type of bread isn’t made with 100% whole wheat, it might actually be made with enriched flour, which is the type of carb that delivers very little nutritional value and can cause a sugar spike.
Don’t turn your back on wheat bread just yet. Instead, look more closely at the types of breads you can buy. To find a true whole wheat bread, buy the option that contains the highest level of fiber for the best nutritional value.
