Prince William just made a royal visit to Singapore for the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony and fans were quick to notice that Princess Kate was not by his side. Though fans were originally concerned about her absence, Prince William quickly quieted their concerns by explaining that his wife was simply at home helping Prince George with his studies.
Prince William founded the Earthshot organization in 2020 to promote environmental issues and champion those who have made efforts to solve these issues. This year was the third annual awards ceremony, but the first that Kate was unable to attend. Fortunately, royal fans can expect her presence next year, as the royal couple plans to keep the award going until 2030.

Prince William arrived at the Earthshot Prize awards ceremony two weekends ago via a commercial plane, making it clear that his interest in environmentalism is anything but performative. During his speech at the event on Monday, Nov. 6th, Prince William made sure to inform the crowd that his partner was very sad to miss the ceremony. "Catherine is very sorry she can't be here," he explained. "She is helping George though his first set of major exams." Prince George, William and Kate's firstborn, is 10 years old.
Kate has made it clear that her children's education is a big priority. Most recently, during a school visit in Cardiff, Wales, in October, the Princess explained that "George is just at the beginning of being tested. He says, 'Mummy, keep getting tested all the time.' But when it gets to A-levels you feel like you're on it."
An insider close to the royal couple explained to The Mirror that in certain circumstances like this one, it's important to Kate and William to put their children first. "Kate does not want to disturb the youngsters' schooling and works hard to ensure the trio have a stable home life in preparation for their royal careers later down the line."
They added, "Her youngest child is 5, so I don't think she should be expected to hop on a plane every two minutes."
