Here’s Why Prince Harry And Meghan Markle Reportedly Didn’t Get A Photo Of Their Daughter With The Queen, According To Insiders

Millions of viewers tuned in to the 2022 Platinum Jubilee events last week, honoring the 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II. While many anticipated seeing royal balcony appearances, parades and other photo-worthy moments, others hoped to see Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor (the one-year-old daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry) finally meet her great-grandmother, 96, for the first time. Although a photo of the child and the monarch was never shared with the public, many royal insiders have reportedly confirmed that the two did in fact meet, (and many have theories as to why there is no photographic evidence of this).
According to The Sun, an anonymous source revealed to the publication that Markle and Harry brought Lilibet to meet the Queen amid the Trooping the Color event, and wanted to bring a photographer to capture the epic moment. The source reportedly explained that they weren’t allowed to do this.”Harry and Meghan wanted their photographer to capture the moment Lilibet met the Queen,” the insider allegedly said, “But they were told no chance. It was a private family meeting.”
Another source, however, contradicted this and reportedly told The Post that the couple actually didn’t ask the Queen for photos because she was not feeling well. “They just enjoyed a private and intimate visit with the Queen,” the source allegedly said.
Lilibet’s landmark first birthday happened to occur during Queen Elizabeth’s 4-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations, and her parents did throw a small party for her. Entertainment Tonight reported that her party was held at their old home in Frogmore Cottage (and this was also the child’s first trip to the U.K).
Markle and Harry recently renewed a lease there, and several relatives stopped by for her big day, including Princess Anne’s children Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips as well as their spouses and children. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also released the first official portrait of the child on her birthday— and warmed the hearts of millions. (So cute!)
Here’s hoping that one day fans will see a photo of Queen Elizabeth with Lilibet, as the child’s name honors the monarch (it was her nickname as a child, aww).
