While you’re more likely to notice what jewelry Kate Middleton is wearing, you might notice what jewelry Prince William is not wearing—a wedding ring! But have no fear, this has nothing to do with the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage, in fact, it’s actually “personal preference,” according to a royal source. Keep reading for more information.
Prince William Doesn't Wear A Wedding Ring
Prince William doesn't wear a wedding ring, but obviously, he is still happily married. The reason he doesn't wear one? According to an insider, "He's not one for jewelry. He's never worn any. He decided he didn't want to wear one now. It's all down to personal preference."
Royal commentator Eloise Parker also had some insight into the Prince's fashion choices. "Although it's traditional for royal women to wear both an engagement ring and a wedding ring after they get married, it's never been traditional for royal men to wear one," she said.
"That's why Prince Philip and Prince William don't wear them," she continued. "I think when you have a wedding watched by millions, everyone knows you're married." Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding was televised, and across the UK and the US, almost 100M people watched at least some of the coverage of the wedding.
King Charles & Prince Harry Do Wear Wedding Rings
However, just because it's not traditional for royal men to wear wedding rings doesn't mean it doesn't happen. King Charles actually wears a ring gifted to him by Queen Camilla on their wedding day on his pinky finger. The gold signet ring dates back 175 years, and was last worn by Prince Edward, the Duke of Windsor.
Prince Harry, though his royal status is up for debate, also wears a wedding ring. The Duke of Sussex wears a platinum band given to him by Meghan Markle.
