Céline Dion‘s fans have been getting updates on her battle with Stiff Person Syndrome from her older sister Claudette Dion – but now it’s time for the six-time Grammy-winner to update her fans herself!

The 56-year-old “Power of Love” hitmaker opened up to Hoda Kotb for her first television interview since revealing that she was diagnosed with the rare neurological condition in 2022, with the interview set to be broadcast on Today and in an NBC News Primetime special on June 11th.

The interview will come just a few weeks before her Amazon Prime documentary I Am: Céline Dion premieres on June 25th, which sees her talk about her desire to return to the stage. “I miss it so much,” Dion says in a preview for the documentary, adding: “The people, I miss them. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl.”

Hoda Kotb Tells ‘Today’ Viewers What To Expect From Her Céline Dion Interview

Kotb teased viewers with some information from her “very emotional” interview on the Thursday, May 23rd episode of Today, with one of the scariest confessions from Dion being that she “almost died.”

“Céline Dion at some point – she is now much better – but, at some point, she almost died, which is something that she says, and it was a scary time,” Kotb explained.

“It was a scary time,” she reiterated, adding: “She was diagnosed with a terrible disease and, at one point, she wondered if she was going to make it, whether she was going to live through it.”

Kotb, who conducted the Dion interview in Las Vegas, went on to say that “a lot of people are wondering what happened, what was wrong,” and had asked Dion about the “possibility of a comeback.” She then said: “We’ve missed her, and it was a very emotional interview. We’ll see where she is in her journey of coming back, but I know people are cheering her on.”

Fan Support

The "My Heart Will Go On" singer has indeed had a lot of support from her fans on social media since revealing her diagnosis.

"Céline is an icon. Adored," wrote one fan in the comments section of a YouTube video of Hoda talking about the interview. "Céline is and always will be my all time favorite singer!" exclaimed another, adding: "I pray the Lord gives mercy on this awful disease she has." A third fan said they were sending "love" and "prayers" to the singer.
