Hoda Kotb has made no secret of the fact that she has been open to finding love again following her split from fiancé Joel Schiffman, as she has discussed it on live TV on several occasions. Last year, she even confessed that she was waiting for Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager to set her up on a blind date, due to her high success rate in matchmaking and how well she knows her friend. And it seems like she might be one step closer to finding her Mr. Right judging by what she recently confessed to Kelly Clarkson…
The 59-year-old Today host opened up to the 41-year-old “Since U Been Gone” singer onThe Kelly Clarkson Show, and revealed that she had finally gone on a date for the first time since she and the 65-year-old financier announced their split in January 2022. The former couple – who share daughters Haley Joy, 7, and Hope Catherine, 4 – had been together for eight years before calling it quits.
Hoda Kotb Tells Kelly Clarkson She Went On A Date For The First Time In Two Years
“I do have to say something,” Hoda confessed on the Tuesday, March 5th episode of the show. “Something did happen the other day that hasn’t happened in two years,” she teased, before confirming: “I had a date! I had a date!”
Hoda’s confession immediately resulted in the audience giving her a round of applause, after which the “Mine” singer congratulated her for achieving this “huge” milestone. “That’s huge, even to be in a place to do that,” Kelly praised, although Hoda urged her and the audience not to get too excited, saying: “But you know what it was? It was just a date. It was nothing but a date.”
Hoda didn't give any details on who her first date in two years was, and whether it was indeed down to Jenna's matchmaking. But it's likely that the date took place on February 16th, as she may have accidentally spilled the details of her date with the Today with Hoda and Jenna audience that same day.
While talking to Jennifer Lopez about relationships, the 54-year-old JLo Beauty mogul said: "You just told me about your setup tonight." Hoda then said, while laughing as she realized her mistake: "I just told her I had a date tonight, which that wasn't supposed to be public."
