Hoda Kotb just updated fans about her youngest daughter’s health, one year after she was hospitalized for an undisclosed “scary” emergency that resulted in her spending time in an intensive care unit.
In a brand new interview with People, the 59-year-old Today co-host confirmed that four-year-old daughter Hope Catherine, who she shares with ex-fiancé Joel Schiffman, is being monitored round the clock, but her condition has now “stabilized.” Last year, after Hope’s scary hospitalization, Hoda confirmed to People that her daughter was “doing much better,” adding: “I think it’s going to be a longer road, but she is doing great.”

Hoda Kotb Reveals Why She Wants To Keep Her Daughter’s Health Private
The Making Space with Hoda Kotb podcast host revealed to the pub that she won’t be going into specific details about Hope’s condition because of her young age, and she doesn’t want her daughter to get “labeled” or treated differently.
“It’s really tricky, because I don’t want Hope to get labeled,” Hoda told the pub, adding: “She’s a kid who is so vibrant, and most days everything is totally fine. I don’t want people to look at her differently.”
Hoda Kotb Commends Her Daughter's Resilience: 'She Can Withstand Anything'
Hoda also told People that she initially didn't want to believe that anything was wrong with her daughter, which she thinks many other parents in a similar position can relate to. "Any parent who's been through a scary thing with their child understands. It's like you just can't believe that your child's sick," she explained.
"You can't believe that there's nothing you can do. You can't believe that no matter what you do, you can't will it away or protect her, or all the things that we're supposed to be doing as parents. And it's a position I've never found myself in."
Ever the proud mom, Hoda commended her daughter's strength and resilience throughout the health battle, and said: "She just demonstrates that when you have whatever she has inside of her, this will, this fight, this everything… she can withstand anything." She added: "This child is going to have the easiest adulthood because she's had a tough go of it early on."
