Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that Kelly Clarkson is looking the best she’s ever looked. Between her dramatic weight loss and upgraded style, she wows fans on every episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. She’s also been really open about how she lost all the weight, just recently talking about it on her May 13 show.
Her openness about taking weight loss drugs has garnered a lot of praise from fans and other celebrities alike, as it seems that many celebrities who’ve recently experienced a dramatic weight loss simply chalk it up to a clean diet and fitness routine. Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb are two of these celebrities who’ve sung their praises of Kelly Clarkson’s openness on their own TV show, Today. Keep reading for more information.
Kelly Clarkson Is Open About Weight Loss Drug Experience
On May 13, Clarkson welcomed special guest Whoopi Goldberg onto her show, and they ended up discussing Whoopi Goldberg's use of weight loss drugs. Soon, however, the conversation turned toward's Clarkson own use. "I didn't plan on talking about this," she said. "Everyone thinks it's Ozempic. It's not. It's something else. But it's something that aids in breaking down the sugar. Obviously, my body doesn't do it right."
While the singer did admit to taking weight loss drugs to aid in her body transformation, she's also made a point of saying that it's not all because of the drugs. After making the cross country move from Los Angeles to New York in 2023, she noted that she spends a lot more time being active, "Walking in the city is quite the workout," she said.
Diet is part of it too: "I eat a healthy mix," she said. "A protein diet is good for me anyway. I'm a Texas girl, so I like meat—sorry, vegetarians in the world!"
Jenna Bush Hager & Hoda Kotb Cheer For Kelly Clarkson
After Kelly's revelation, Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb of Today with Hoda & Jenna shared how much they appreciate her for being so open about her use of weight loss drugs, noting that she's "as transparent as they come."
But they also said that while they appreciate her transparency, it's nowhere near necessary. "She gets to lose weight any way she wants to lose weight," Hoda said to Jenna, who agreed that it's nobody's business what the "Since U Been Gone" singer does with her body.
"I just think it's so interesting that people feel like they're owed explanations," Jenna continued. She also said that she gets why some people are more private about their health journeys. "It's a hard journey for a lot of women to talk about their bodies and their weight, and I know that there's this huge movement."
But overall, they simply couldn't be happier for the 42-year-old. "I don't think she's ever been happier of healthier!" Hoda said to close.
