Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s divorce has made headlines for years now, with each beloved Hollywood celebrity throwing accusations at one another like baseballs. As the world watches them settle all their assets, it seems as though nothing is water under the bridge. Despite claims from both sides that don’t paint the other in a very good light, other Hollywood A-listers have made it clear who’s side they’re on. Keep reading for more information
The Messy Brangelina Divorce
The most recent lawsuits between the two Mr. & Mrs. Smith main characters is over their French winery, Château Miraval, which is also the site of their 2014 marriage. The most recent claim from the Jolie team brought up the disastrous private plan ride from 2016, when Angelina claimed that Brad physically abused her.
According to an FBI report, Brad Pitt allegedly grabbed Jolie and shook her, pushed her into a wall and punched the ceiling. Jolie herself said that Pitt behaved like a "monster" in front of their six children, and there are reports of Pitt getting "physical" with their son, Maddox, who was 15 at the time. Sources close to Pitt responded by saying that the accusations were "a combination of exaggerations and lies."
Then, a new court filing from Jolie's lawyers says that the actress is claiming that her ex-husband was abusive toward her prior to the 2016 plane ride incident. "While Pitt's history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family's September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles, this flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him," the court filing reads.
Famous Pals Stick By Brad Pitt
Despite this filing from the Jolie side of the court, Brad Pitt's longtime Hollywood friends have stuck by him. He's maintained a longtime friendship with George Clooney, his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Aniston, and perhaps one of his strongest friendships, Bradley Cooper.
Supposedly, the Brads are quite close because of the bond they share over their quitting drinking. Pitt reportedly stopped drinking after the 2016 private plane ride that led to his divorce. In 2019, Pitt admitted to the New York Times, "I had taken things as far as I could take it, so I removed my drinking privileges." Cooper has also abstained from drinking for decades, after abusing substances following his injury to his Achilles.
The pair's commitment to "trying to live better lives," (Pitt's words, not ours!) and live in a "new, sober universe," has seemingly worked out for them. The dup reportedly have grown even close now that they both have (much younger) model girlfriends, with Cooper being linked to Gigi Hadid and Brad Pitt happily dating Ines de Ramon.
