You’ve lost your phone — which isn’t much of a dilemma if you have an iPhone because Apple is equipped with convenient features that allow you to find your phone quickly. But there’s a major catch this time: you turned your phone off before it went missing. Great, you’re probably thinking, there’s no chance of recovering it now.

Actually, Apple thought of something for that problem. “Did you know your iPhone is still traceable even if it’s powered off?” one tech expert from BD i-Tech asks:

And, as it turns out, the way to find your phone, even when it’s turned off, is simple. No need to worry: this is the tip you need to follow to find your powered-off phone once again.

Enable Find My Network

Before you can find your powered-off phone, you’ll need to turn on a specific setting that will make it possible to trace your device when it’s off. Go to Settings and then Find My iPhone. Tap on Find My, then Find My iPhone, and make sure Find My Network is turned on. This option will allow your iPhone to be traceable even when your device is off.

Test the Setting

Once you’ve enabled Find My Network, you can test it out to make sure it is working. To test this setting, press the power and volume up button as if you were turning off your phone. Here you’ll see a new option at the top: it will actually say “iPhone remains findable after power off.” This feature is supported by iOS 15 and later software updates as well as the iPhone 11 and later models.

Make sure you enable this feature today so that, in the even that your phone goes missing while it’s powered off, you have nothing to worry about and will be able to find it again.
