March 8, 2018 by Jessica Harrington
If you’re rocking bangs, you know that they can grow incredibly fast–even when the rest of your hair feels like it’s been stuck at the same length for forever. It can be a pain to keep your bangs trimmed and in tip-top shape–especially when you’re not due to go back for a haircut for another few weeks.
But what’s the alternative? Outgrown bangs that look like a shaggy mess? No way! When you need to trim your bangs between salon visits, you can do it yourself at home. This is not crazy talk–there are tips and tricks that can help you pull off a DIY bang trim at home. I know what you’re thinking–”There’s no way I’m taking scissors to my own hair!” But it’s not as scary as you may think.
Trimming your own bangs sounds like a daunting task, but it really isn’t. The steps are simple and easy to follow. Cutting your own bangs will save you time and a lot of money from having to run to the salon every few weeks. All you need is a pair of hair clipping scissors and a comb–and dry hair! You don’t want to cut your bangs while your hair is wet unless you want them to dry shorter than you were expecting (yikes).
Follow the steps below to cut your own bangs like the pros. You’ll be a bang trimming expert in no time!
Before we start, follow these tips for best practice:–Only cut your hair when it’s dry, otherwise, it could end up drying too short.–Go slowly, this is no time to rush.–The first time you try a DIY trim, make your bangs a little longer. You can always go back and cut more hair off if you want them shorter or mess up, but you can’t add more hair back on (until it just naturally grows back, that is).–Check your work often to make sure you’re not cutting off too much
