Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have had to pay the entire cost of the renovation to their home near Windsor Castle. The royal couple moved to the home, Frogmore Cottage, shortly after getting married though they have since relocated to the United States following their decision to step away from their royal duties.
The renovations to Frogmore Cottage cost a total fo £2.4 million, which is the equivalent of about $3 million. It was originally paid entirely by British taxpayers through ghd Sovereign Grant.
When Harry and Meghan announced their departure from royal duties in January 2020, Harry promised that he would repay it, which he now has ccomplished.
The Frogmore Cottage home will now remain a UK residence for Harry, Meghan and their young son Archie.
The family currently lives full time in Santa Barbara, California, in a new home they recently purchased for an estimated $14.5 million.
