The latest volley between the Biden and Trump camps has officially been hit—and this time, it’s Hunter Biden taking a swing.
His target? Rudy Giuliani, the ex-attorney for former president Donald Trump. The First Son filed a civil lawsuit on Tuesday against Rudy Giuliani and Giuliani’s former attorney, Robert Costello, alleging the pair spent years “hacking into, tampering with, manipulating, copying, disseminating, and generally obsessing over data that they were given that was taken or stolen from” his personal devices. This lawsuit is the latest from Hunter Biden, as he implements an aggressive legal offense against his many attackers.
Hunter Biden Files Civil Suit Against Rudy Giuliani
In the lawsuit filed in California's federal court, Hunter Biden claims that Giuliani and Costello caused "total annihilation" of his digital privacy, violating both federal and state computer privacy laws along the way through their combined and continual efforts to hack his personal devices. Attorneys for Biden wrote in the lawsuit that "Plaintiff has demanded Defendants Giuliani and Costello cease their unlawful activities with respect to Plaintiff’s data and return any data in their possession belonging to Plaintiff, but they have refused to do so...Defendants’ statements suggest that their unlawful hacking activities are ongoing today and that, unless stopped, will continue into the future, thereby necessitating this action."
It was further alleged that the former mayor has "not only admitted but bragged about downloading data from Plaintiff’s 'laptop' (even though he only had a hard drive) onto his own computer; about using his own computer to access, tamper with and manipulate the downloaded data; and about maintaining multiple copies of the data for his and Defendant Costello’s personal use."
Giuliani's camp has since responded to the lawsuit, denying allegations that the ex-attorney "manipulated" devices belonging to Hunter Biden. "Hunter Biden has previously refused to admit ownership of the laptop," said the former NYC mayor's adviser, Ted Goodman. "I’m not surprised he’s now falsely claiming his laptop hard drive was manipulated by Mayor Giuliani, considering the sordid material and potential evidence of crimes on that thing." Biden's lawsuit comes as the GOP launched an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, an inquiry that is also investigating the younger Biden son's business dealings and their relation to the office of the president.
Hunter Also Files Suit Against Former Trump White House Aide
Rudy Giuliani and co. aren't the only ones feeling the legal heat from Hunter Biden. The businessman also filed a civil suit earlier this month against former Trump White House aide Garrett Ziegler, alleging that since leaving the White House, Ziegler has "devoted most of his waking time and energy" to finding and hacking devices that were thought to belong to the younger Biden son. The lawsuit states that Biden feels Ziegler is guilty of "accessing, tampering with, manipulation, altering, copying and damaging computer data that they do not own and that they claim to have obtained from hacking into Plaintiff’s iPhone data and from scouring a copy of the hard drive of what they claim to be Plaintiff’s 'laptop' computer."
Ziegler was part of the Trump White House from February 2019 to January 2021, working first as a policy analyst and then later in the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy. Biden's lawsuit further stated that "Within the last two weeks, Defendant Ziegler went so far as to declare on social media that efforts by Plaintiff to serve him with legal process in the future would [sic] met with violence."
Just last week, Biden also sued the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), claiming that their agents released his tax information illegally, and that the IRS failed to protect his private financial records.
