These products have been sold nationwide at various different grocery stores. The FDA noted that there have been no reports of illness related to the recall to date, and that Totally Cool is taking "preventative actions" to make sure nobody gets sick as a result of their sweet treat.
Listera is a dangerous bacteria that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Symptoms can include high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Pregnant individuals may experience far worse symptoms, including miscarriages and stillbirths.
