Home cooking is the best way to eat well and stay healthy, because it is the only way you can be completely sure you are only eating the best ingredients. But there are a lot of unhealthy ingredients masquerading as healthy ones, so you could be making foods that are bad for you without even realizing it.
Most recipes call for a cooking fat or oil to start with, because this can give flavor and depth to your food, as well as make it harder for other ingredients to burn on the pan.
While many cooking fats aren't bad for you, there are others than can really destroy your health.
And, it turns out that one of the worst cooking fats is one that most people think is a healthy alternative: margarine.
Margarine, or other butter substitutes, are often selected because these ingredients have a lower fat content than butter. But this doesn't actually make margarine healthier than butter.
In fact, margarine typically contains higher level of saturated fats, which can clog your arteries and lead to health conditions. It also contains a lot of oils that may cause inflammation throughout the body.
It's best to stick to plain butter when cooking because it is a more natural ingredient with less risks.
