Curiosity has sparked among social media users about whether Melania Trump uses hair extensions after a photo seemingly showed tape-ins. On December 12th, Vice President-elect J.D. Vance posted an image on X (formerly known as Twitter) that appeared to reveal part of the former model’s extensions.
The junior senator, 40, shared a picture of Donald Trump and his wife, 54, watching the New York Stock Exchange on TV. Often admired for her caramel-colored, glamorous long hair and flawless blowout styles, the mom of one (who shares son Barron, 18, with her husband, 78) might be enhancing her volume with extensions. Supporters on social media have defended her, pointing out that many women opt for extensions.
The above photo caption read: “Ready to ring the bell on the New York Stock Exchange. President Trump will lead a great American comeback!” On X, speculation arose about whether or not Melania uses extensions. On Instagram, many users came to her defense, with one responding to the rumors: “Who the hell cares? Everyone is wearing them!” Another added: “Who cares.”
Someone else replied: “women can never win. Like no hair extensions… “why her hair look so thin” …. But when they do the internet zooms in on the slightest imperfection. Weird breaking news.” One other noted: “Ohh the horror!!!!!!”
In an interview with The Daily Mail, Julia North, London-based hairstylist and founder of luxury wig brand Wigonia, weighed in. “‘Looking at that specific photo, yes, those appear to be tape-in or beaded-row extensions,” the expert said. North added: “You can spot the telltale signs where the natural hair meets the extension pieces, particularly visible in the mid-sections.”
She continued: “I’d say she’s likely wearing premium quality, European human hair extensions, probably 18 to 20 inches in length.” She noted that the installation seems to utilize a mixed technique, incorporating tape-ins to add volume and individual beaded rows to extend length.
