Justin Timberlake made headlines last month, first for getting arrested for drunk driving, then for arrogantly muttering to a police officer that his arrest would “ruin the tour” he was on, and then again, days later, for joking about the entire incident. This timeline of events put him back in the bad graces of fans, and his lack of ticket sales for his Forget Tomorrow World Tour is reflecting that. With some venues now selling tickets for just $9, most social media users are having the same reaction: that’s karma! Keep reading for more details.
Justin Timberlake Arrested For Drunk Driving
On June 18, Justin Timberlake was pulled over after leaving the American Hotel in Sag Harbor, and charged with one count of DWI and two citations, one for running a stop sign and the other for failure to keep in lane. The officer who arrested him claimed that Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests,” despite Timberlake’s rebuttal claim of only having “had one martini.” Getting behind the wheel after drinking is illegal, never a good idea, and a poor example to set for his millions of fans across the globe.
However, Timberlake apparently didn’t see this as a big deal, and even found it appropriate to make jokes about the incident. “So uh, is there anyone here tonight that is driving and…no I’m just kidding.” he said, before launching into a speech about his bad haircuts over the years.
The singer is due to appear in court on July 26, however, as to not let it “ruin the tour” as he reportedly uttered while being loaded into the back of a cop car, his lawyer will attend on his behalf as he will be performing in Europe.
Justin Timberlake Forced To Lower Ticket Prices
Unfortunately, this controversy kind of has "ruined the tour." At least, from the money-making perspective. Multiple venues have slashed ticket prices as the show dates draw nearer, with the cheapest ticket currently going for $9. Compared to the original prices of over $100, this is a devastating blow to the former NSYNC singer.
It seems the combination of him not taking his DWI seriously and his latest album, "Everything I Thought I Was," flopping back when it was released in January is a lethal combination. The 43-year-old has failed to sell out any major arena in the US, and it's not looking good for Europe either.
Justin Timberlake really thought he could compete with Beyonce or Taylor Swift in tour ticket sales….yikes….that’s awfully embarrassing of him…considering his only charting single this era peaked at #19 & his album free fell off the charts in under a month. pic.twitter.com/5oxwPSM5kA

The Internet Destroys Justin Timberlake For 'Cheap' Concert Tickets
Unsurprisingly, as this news spread, so did the reactions on social media. "Re-sell tickets for Justin Timberlake's 'Forget Tomorrow' tour continue to drop under $20 all through December," one fan tweeted. "Yikes...with concert tickets cheaper than movie tickets, it's no wonder he's he's not been able to 'sell out' various venues."
"Justin Timberlake really thought he could compete with Beyoncé or Taylor Swift in tour tickets...yikes...that's awfully embarassing for him," another tweeted. "Considering his only charting single this era peaked at #19 & his album free fell off the charts in under a month!"
"Literally I am getting the ick," another person said. "I'm embarrassed FOR him."
"I actually can't take the second hand embarrassment rn," another added.
"I mean...," a final user started. "Karma's a b*tch!"
