Lara Trump has faced social media backlash over the past week for baselessly claiming that debates are consistently and unfairly weighted in favor of President Biden.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) co-chair, 41, said that debates between Biden, 81, and former president Donald Trump are “rigged so heavily.”

During a recent appearance on Fox News’ Hanitty, the daughter-in-law of the 45th president, 77, said that “the scales have always been tipped against Donald Trump.”
Soon after, X (formerly Twitter) users shared their thoughts on the site, with one writing: “don’t think the Trump family knows what the word rigged means.”
Lara Trump Sparks Backlash After Claiming That Debates Are 'Rigged' Against Donald Trump
In her recent interview, Lara told host Sean Hannity that her father-in-law is still ready to face off against his opponent. In reference to the quartet of criminal charges levied against Donald, Lara added: "And this year more than ever, with all the lawfare, with all we’ve seen against him — in some crazy way, Sean, they’ve actually prepared him for this moment, because he’s not afraid of anything they throw his way."
"It’s rigged so heavily in Joe Biden’s favor, but everything always is," Lara went on. The wife of Eric Trump continued: "Despite that and even the judicial system at this point, he is beating Joe Biden in every poll out there. It’s amazing to see."
"So, if Joe Biden shows up on June 27th and doesn’t come up with an excuse like he has to wash his hair or something, I have full confidence that Donald Trump will outperform him," she continued.
On X, fans responded to Lara's "baseless claims." One wrote: "MAGA mo: everything is rigged that I don’t like." Someone else replied: "You mean the debates that haven't happened yet?" One other added: "Setting the stage for Trump not debating." Another agreed: "RIGGED? Then tell your father-in-law not to debate - simple."
On May 30th, a Manhattan jury found Donald guilty of 34 felonies for falsifying records in an attempt to conceal hush money payments to a porn star. This conviction marks the first time in history that a former US president has been found guilty of a crime.
The charges are related to actions taken during his campaign in 2016, and despite what Lara claimed, could still potentially impact his plans to run for president again in 2024, according to experts.
