So, you have an iPhone that refuses to hold its charge and you’re seconds away from dropping money at the Apple store? Before you buy a new battery, which your phone may not even need — or splurge hundreds more on a brand new phone — there are a few tricks of the tech trade that can help boost battery power. Tech Expert Kelsey Chan at CocoSign spoke to SHEFinds.com about the one iPhone hack experts swear by to double your battery life.
If you consistently rely on Bluetooth or AirDrop, it’s important to remember not to leave these services turned on at all times — because they are big-time battery killers.
“Keep your Bluetooth and AirDrop option on 'off' or 'off receiving,’” Chan says. “Just use them when actually needed. The thing is: Bluetooth and AirDrop, when left turned on, keep eating up your battery by searching for the devices.”
Same as with Bluetooth, Chan cautions to enable your wi-fi settings when you are actually looking for connecting to a nearby device. “In the background, it will cause the draining of the battery unnecessarily,” Chan says.
And there are a number of other tips to keep in mind that will help prolong your battery. “While using your iPhone hotspot, you can enable the focus mode,” Chan says. “Most of the time, when we enable a hotspot to connect another device to our iPhone, we actually do not need the phone. But we still let it receive notifications and run background apps throughout this time. If entered in low power mode or focus mode, you can save your battery.”
Finally, try to charge your device periodically throughout the day so that it never dips below 10 percent and never charges fully to 100 percent.
Making just a few easy adjustments to your iPhone user habits will boost your battery power and make your device run more efficiently for you.
