Without a strong iPhone battery that lasts as long as possible, your user experience with the device won’t be as satisfying. It’s no fun having to find a charger in the middle of the day, right when you need your phone most. You need reliable service and a good understanding of the settings that could actually be causing your battery to dwindle faster. A stronger battery starts with making wise decisions when it comes to apps and settings. Stavros Zavrakas, the founder of Orthogonality, recommends three iPhone hacks you should try immediately for a longer-lasting battery.

Maximum Display Brightness

While it’s incredibly convenient, maximizing the display bright on your phone significantly strains your battery because high brightness uses light mode, Zavrakas explains. “The best alternative is to adjust your phone’s brightness settings to adjust to external light differences without you having to manually increase or decrease it while moving indoors or outdoors,” Zavrakas said. “On the other hand, you could also choose to switch your applications and phone’s general display to dark mode. This won’t darken your phone screen but would change the default white menu and App backgrounds to black, leaving you flabbergasted by how much battery you would save with the dark mode.”

Background & Location Tracking Apps

“Background Apps like Antivirus and VPN will continue functioning even when not in direct use since they monitor or control certain features, which are helpful but also cause vast battery drainage,” Zavrakas said. “Adjusting your settings to disable apps from running in the background is a good choice. Location tracking applications such as Google Maps and various retail apps constantly track your location when in direct use or otherwise. This constant location track down uses up much of the phone’s battery.”

The most simplistic solution to this problem is to turn off your phone’s location if it isn’t necessarily required.

24/7 Connection

Your phone does not need to stay connected at all times, and keeping it connected can do a number on your battery. “While you keep your phone connected to Wi-Fi or data throughout the day to stay connected to the world, these also use up your phone’s battery, especially when employing a data connection,” Zavrakas said. “You can choose to disconnect from these when focusing on work at the office and not using your phone. Additionally, before you sleep, you can turn your Wi-Fi and data connections off to save your battery from draining.”

Try making these simple but effective adjustments to stop losing valuable battery power and start getting the most out of your device.
