If you have an iPhone it’s important to keep on top of updating it, including making sure your privacy settings are up to date to avoid a breach of privacy. Keeping track of this all can seem daunting, so we’ll make it easier: this is the one iPhone privacy setting you should update ASAP, according to tech experts.

When you post a photo to a social media site it often posts the location in which the photo was taken. If you’re actually away from your home or on vacation when these photos are taken, anyone who views them will know you aren’t at your home. If this is a concern, there is a way to ensure your photos are stripped of this information.

Disable geotagging in the Camera app by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services. Then tap on Camera and “Never.” This ensures that every time you take a photo, your camera does not store your location.

Data breaches are a real, and scary, fact of being the owner of a smartphone. But you don’t have to live your life in fear. The first setting you should turn off to prevent certain mobile apps from collecting your location data and selling it to third-party companies is Location Services.

And there’s even more good news that makes your life more convenient. The only step you’ll have to take to make use of security code autofill is to upgrade to iOS 12 or higher. You’ll automatically have access to this feature, though you will still have to enable it on the apps and websites that would benefit from extra security. To update your phone's software go to Settings > General > Software Update.
