Ivanka Trump Has Proclaimed Disinterest In Role Within Possible 2nd Trump White House
Speculation that Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner are considering getting involved in father Donald's re-election campaign follows Ivanka's announcement in November 2022 that she would not take part in her father's campaign nor resulting administration should he be re-elected. "I love my father very much," said the former White House adviser in a statement. "This time around, I am choosing to prioritize my young children and the private life we are creating as a family. I do not plan to be involved in politics."
The former First Daughter continued, "While I will always love and support my father, going forward I will do so outside the political arena. I am grateful to have had the honor of serving the American people and I will always be proud of many of our administration’s accomplishments."
Donald confessed the rigors and requirements of the role were particularly difficult on Ivanka: "Nobody has been through what my family has been through," he claimed. "Ivanka had a really successful line of clothing, I mean, making a fortune. When I did this, she was really—she closed it up. She sort of felt she had to, but she closed it up," Trump said, referring to Ivanka's decision to shut down her namesake clothing brand in July 2018 due to being involved in the Trump White House.
It's well-known that participation in the Trump Administration was taxing on the Kushners' personal and social relationships—particularly after the January 6th riots, "People who have remained friends with Jared and Ivanka were looking for proof that they weren’t complicit but couldn’t find any," a former friend of the couple told Vanity Fair in 2021. Many reports claim that the couple has become ostracized from their previous friend group, all due to their association with Trump's controversial presidency.
Are Ivanka And Jared Really Considering Joining Trump's 2nd Presidential Campaign?
All of the social and emotional issues with Ivanka and Jared taking part in the original Trump White House makes the rumors they are considering getting back into the political game all the more surprising. The speculation was shared by journalist Gabriel Sherman in a Vanity Fair op-ed, in which the writer notes that Ivanka and Jared "have been more visible lately, stoking speculation that the pair could take an active role in Trump's 2024 campaign." A former Trump administration official also told Sherman that the former president's latest polling numbers have made the former White House advisors reconsider their original decision to not take part a second time around. "Now that the president is 40 points ahead, of course, Jared is pretending he’s involved. If he’s president again, Jared needs to protect his turf, especially in the Middle East," the official claimed.
However, another insider disputes this assertion. "Jared thinks the team running the campaign is doing a terrific job and has zero intention to get involved. He is laser-focused on his family and on growing his business," they said. With Ivanka reportedly dropping into campaign meetings more and more, this may soon change.
