Jada Pinkett Smith provided an insight into her hair regrowth progress with a series of before and after selfies in a new Instagram post. The Red Table Talk host, 51, has opened up about her struggle with alopecia in the past, and just gave her 11.4 million followers a recent update.
On August 7th, the Matrix actress uploaded two shots that showed her hair in the “past and present.” The mom of two captioned her post: “This here hair is act’n like it’s try’n a make a come back. Still have some trouble spots but — we’ll see. Slide 1: Past, Slide 2: Present.”

Jada Pinkett Smith Updates Fans On Her Hair Regrowth Journey With New Blonde ‘Do
The first image in the slideshow was an older shot taken when she shaved her head, and a recent picture showing her blond locks that are now in the process of growing. Her fans were quick to demonstrate their appreciation of her beauty, whether with or without longer hair. They also complimented her “perfect” bone structure and “beautiful eyes.”
“So gorgeous!” one fan wrote as another added: “Beautiful either way.” Others conveyed their thoughts on her selfies with red hearts, fire and heart-eye emojis. One other devotee wrote: “lookin’ good.”
Pinkett Smith herself has epically pulled off both hairstyles, and back in September 2022, she memorably celebrated those who rock the latter. At the time, she wished a "happy Bald is Beautiful day to all my brothers and sisters with no hair."
The Girls Trip star has been commended by fans over the years for her honesty and transparency after battling alopecia. After struggling with hair loss, Pinkett Smith admitted that it took her a while to regain confidence with her new style. "It was terrifying when it first started," she recalled during a 2022 episode of Red Table Talk.
"I was in the shower one day and then just handfuls of hair just in my hands. I was like, 'Oh my god, am I going bald?' It was one of those times in my life where I was literally shaking with fear."

Embracing herself both with and without hair, Pinkett Smith said she is no longer affected by what others might think.
"I don't give two craps what people feel about this bald head of mine," she told viewers in a TikTok video last year. "Cause guess what? I love it."
Her fans do, too!
