Jared Leto has always been known to transform his appearance for an acting role, but his latest look is completely unrecognizable. The 49-year-old actor and 30 Seconds to Mars frontman has entirely evolved his look for his upcoming movie, House of Gucci.
New promotional posters for the film were just released, showing Leto and his costars, Lady Gaga, Adam Driver, Al Pacino and Jeremy Irons – all in their costumes and makeup for their respective parts.
In Leto’s poster, the actor has been transformed to look like Paolo Gucci. He is made to appear with a fuller face, bald head and stoic complexion – a far cry from Leto’s usual look!
Leto is often seen wearing his hair long and in a close variation of its natural brown color, with trimmed facial hair and usually a trendy outfit. While he has changed his hair and facial hair for several roles, his look for House of Gucci is the first that shows his face looking so different from usual.
For Suicide Squad in 2016, Leto dyed his hair green and had tattoos painted over his body to play the Joker. He also had a lot of makeup to make his face seem more harsh and "crazy."
He even went as far as to gain 70 pounds for his role as Mark David Chapman in the 2007 movie Chapter 27.
But the most drastic evolution in Leto's past was probably for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, 2013. For this movie, the actor lost so much weight that he only weighed 114 pounds, and shaved all of the hair off his body.
House of Gucci is a biopic centering on Patrizia and Maurizio Gucci, who headed the historic fashion house, chronicling their turbulent marriage, divorce and ultimately murder.
Patrizia and Maurizio are played by Lady Gaga and Adam Driver, respectively. Leto's character, Paolo Gucci, is a cousin of Maurizio.
The movie is directed by Ridley Scott, and is set to premier in November this year.
