As a Certified Nutrition Coach and Behavior Change Specialist, Jasmine Carmele does not seem like someone who has ever struggled with her weight. But her expertise actually comes from personal experience–and she knows exactly what it takes to lose weight since she has gone through a weight loss transformation herself.
After having two babies in two years and reaching her heaviest weight at 294 pounds, she realized she needed to make a change. This change started with a more mindful approach to her diet.
A food tracking app is one way to simplify that more mindful approach to eating.
For her weight loss journey, Jasmine used the Lose It! app. She explained, "I used to just eat mindlessly, never realizing what I was putting into my body, how much, or how it was really affecting me. By tracking my foods in the Lose It! app, I was able to actually see the numbers and make more conscious decisions overall."
Besides keeping more careful track of your diet, Jasmine also suggests making sure that you are drinking enough water.
She recommends starting your morning with a large glass of water: "I always drink water first thing in the morning, for about 30 minutes before breakfast. It ensures that I hit my water goal quicker each day, and makes me feel better overall."
Jasmine has successfully kept her weight off for over a year, but she still recognizes how difficult it is to get started on a sustainable weight loss plan.
She says, "Take each day one step at a time!"
She adds, "Don’t overwhelm yourself, remind yourself everyday that you are capable and always strive for PROGRESS, not perfection."
That mindset was super important to Jasmine's success--and it carried into her husband's successful 90 Lb weight loss as well. She explains, "When we changed our eating and exercise habits it was never about 'how quickly can we do this,' or 'when will we be done.' It was all about 'let’s create a new life for ourselves and for our daughters.'"
