Jason Momoa and Lisa Bonet shocked the world back in January when the former couple announced that they would be ending their 16 year long relationship, and now the 42-year-old actor has dashed all hopes that the pair will ever reunite romantically. While fans have been outwardly devastated about the dissolution of the marriage, Momoa set the record straight on Oscar Sunday, declaring that things were done for good.
“We’re not back together. We’re family. … We have two beautiful children together,” the actor answered when addressed on the red carpet by Access Hollywood. Momoa then doubled down on his statement, repeating the same words, “We’re not getting back together. We’re family forever.”
Bonet, for her part, has yet to publicly speak on the split, but the pair seem to be amicable with Momoa showing support for Bonet’s daughter Zoe Kravitz throughout the premiere month of her new film, The Batman. Earlier this month, Momoa arrived at the premiere in New York, telling Entertainment Tonight, “Lisa couldn’t be here, so we’re representing, me and the babies.”
At that time the actor continued to reiterate the sentiment of them still being a family, telling the reporter, “We’re very excited to just be here. … It’s still family, you know?”
Momoa has had a difficult month, and last Saturday the 42-year-old underwent surgery for a hernia. However, he evidently bounced back quickly, attending the Oscars ceremony just one day later and even presenting the award for ‘Best Sound’ with Dune co-star, Josh Brolin.
Although it seems like romantic hope for Momoa and Bonet has been dashed, there is still love between the pair after the end of their lengthy relationship, as the former couple shared in their official statement, “The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other to be who we are learning to become.”
