Jelly Roll remains a source of inspiration for his followers on social media, as his commitment to bettering his health is now paying off after several months of hard work. The “Need a Favor” singer, 40, who once weighed over 500 pounds, has been documenting his path to a balanced lifestyle on Instagram.

During the 2025 NFL Honors, Jelly Roll (real name Jason Bradley DeFord) captured everyone’s attention when he was introduced onstage by Snoop Dogg. The “Drop It Like It’s Hot” rapper, 53, appeared in a complete Steelers outfit, joking about the NFL’s need for talented players. The “Save Me” hitmaker then made his entrance, proudly displaying his significant weight loss in a snug Tennessee Titans uniform that emphasized his transformed physique.

Jelly Roll then said, while smiling, “If anyone deserves a shot in this league, it’s me.” The “Son of a Sinner” artist then joked, “Snoop don’t even look like he plays football. I, on the other hand — peak athleticism, music superstar — one could say I’m Travis and Taylor in one pair of britches.”

After Snoop Dogg agreed and mentioned to the country musician that he would be a good fit for the offensive line, Jelly Roll responded, “O-line? I wanna be a running back.” He quipped: “Forget the tush-push, your team needs the Jelly Belly!” Soon after the CMT Music Award winner’s appearance, fans headed to Instagram to praise his transformation. Beneath the above post from the NFL, one user wrote that Jelly was “looking good” as another added, “Jelly lookin slimmed up.”

This comes after the Grammy nominee sat down for a fresh cover photoshoot in November 2024 and gave an exclusive interview with People magazine. In the interview, Jelly Roll shared his journey of conquering food addiction and transforming his perspective on food, a struggle that has lasted nearly four decades. “The battle was with the food addiction, changing the way I’ve looked at food for the last 39 years,” he shared.

The "Winning Streak" artist continued: "I’ve never had a healthy relationship with food, so that was the hard part. But once you get into that discipline and commitment, it’s like an avalanche. Once that little snowball started rolling, it was on its way." He also noted that he and his team engage in daily basketball games while on tour to stay in shape. Additionally, Jelly Roll has entirely revamped his habits during travel, focusing on exercise and healthy eating.

"It’s cool because there was once a time in life that the culture I built on tour was the opposite. It revolved around alcohol and drugs," he explained. "And now our tour culture is around good eating and around exercising and doing emotional check-ins with our crew every day."

Jelly Roll openly shared that his battle with food addiction started during his childhood in Antioch, Tennessee. He told the publication: "Nobody in my house ever had [a healthy relationship with food], so that was the hard part, really fighting that demon at first and getting into that discipline and that commitment."

That interview came one month after Jelly Roll's go-to health expert shared some of the musician's favorite snacks and meals that have contributed to his weight loss success. Jelly Roll has shed the pounds over the past year, as revealed by his chef and nutrition coach Ian Larios, in an Instagram video posted for Jelly Roll’s 3.9 million IG followers in October.

At the beginning of the clip, Jelly Roll told fans: “When I see y’all in March … y’all aren’t gonna recognize me. That’s why, next year, when y’all see me, you won’t recognize me. I’m going to get under a pile of weights in a way that I never had.”
