The journalist told Entertainment Tonight that she was inspired to enhance her fitness routine after she found out she was selected to dress up as a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader for a Today Show Halloween episode segment. “I have to tell you, when your boss says you’re gonna be a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader — and I grew up in Dallas — guess what? You try to get fit,” she said.

In the memorable episode that aired last fall, Hager and her colleague Savannah Guthrie, 50, donned the NFL team’s signature cheer uniforms and impressively performed a choreographed routine with several real Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders.
