Jenna Dewan just opened up about the period of time surrounding the birth of her daughter Everly, and the 40-year-old dancer and actress revealed that she was wrought with postpartum anxiety particularly due to her and her partner at the time, Channing Tatum’s, busy schedules. Opening up on the Dear Gabby podcast, Dewan elaborated on the busy time after her daughter’s birth and how it impacted her and her parenting, speaking candidly about her job in the entertainment industry.
Speaking to host Gabby Bernstein, Dewan spoke of the time following the birth of her daughter, saying, “I had to travel with her, and at the time, Chan wasn’t available to be with us for the most part. So, it was me, my doula, and Evie all by ourselves traveling at six weeks.” At the time, Tatum was working on the film Jupiter Ascending, while Dewan was also busy with Witches of East End, sparking major “postpartum anxiety,” she shared.
“I thought, ‘OK, I think I can do that. It’ll be two months after and I’ll have her on set,’ Dewan revealed of her initial plans integrating her daughter into her work life. However, it ended up being much more complicated than that. “It was, like, I just never stopped. You know, you’re up a couple times in the night and then you’re working all day. I was breastfeeding, I was pumping, I was without a partner. I mean, it was just craziness,” Dewan continued.
The 40-year-old mother of two who now shares a son, Callum Michael, with her husband, Steve Kazee, also took to social media to clarify her comments about her ex, Tatum, posting an Instagram story on Tuesday that read, “It’s unfortunate that countless media outlets have taken an important conversation on a woman’s experience with postpartum issues and pulled quotes to make it appear that I was slamming my daughter’s father, something I would never do. As two working parents, we both faced challenges at the time, but I speak only for myself and not about him.”
Tatum has made no comments regarding Dewan’s recent interview, and the pair have both moved on from their marriage which spanned from 2009-2018. Dewan is now married to Kazee, and Tatum was last romantically linked to singer Jessie J from 2018-2020. While Tatum’s relationship status is unclear at the moment, there appears to be no bad blood between the pair as they continue to co parent their daughter Everly.
