Pulling up the letter on her phone, Bush Hager read to Kotb, “Dear Mom and Dad, I miss you. I wish I could be with you. P.S. Daddy, how much longer 'til you pick me up? I miss you too much. I need to stop crying. So goodbye. I miss you terribly, Mom and Dad.”
Speaking candidly, Bush Hager revealed that the moment they read the letter, her husband, Henry Hager, considered going to retrieve Mila from camp. “Henry goes, ‘Should we just go? Should I just go get her?’ I was like, ‘No, she's fine,’” she said.
This was not the first time Bush Hager has spoken about Mila’s experience at sleepaway camp, expressing how difficult it was dropping her off last month. “She was like, ‘Don't cry, Mommy,’ and I said, ‘I'm not going to cry,’” she remembered. “I had on my sunglasses. There was something about it because it's the camp I went to as a little girl, so there was this nostalgia.”
Bush Hager went on to share, “Also, I got out of the car and she said, ‘Mommy, I have sunscreen in my eyes.’ But I knew she didn't have sunscreen in her eyes,” she added. “It was just this feeling of ... she's old! How is she old enough to go away from me for three weeks?”
The 39-year-old host has been having a busy summer with her family, recently sharing some sweet snaps to Instagram captioned, “Photo dump: LOVING summer so very much,” where she was pictured grinning widely with her daughter Mila. The carousel of photos also showed Bush Hager and her children enjoying a bike ride, cuddling on the couch, and soaking in the weather at the lake.
