Jennifer Garner Wants To Distance Herself From Jennifer Lopez After Ben Affleck Divorce, Sources Say
The Elektra alum has now decided to separate herself from Lopez, limiting their interactions to matters concerning the children in their blended family. "Jen no longer wishes to have communication with JLo unless it is do with the kids," an insider told the publication.
They added: "Her friends feel she shouldn’t have allowed herself to get so involved in helping JLo to fix her marriage to Ben." The source continued: "Especially considering Jen felt pitted against JLo at times during their own marriage. Jen is too nice and truly wanted to help, so she tried."
Garner and Affleck's oldest daughter, Violet, 18, has apparently maintained a strong bond with Lopez. Following her summer stay in the Hamptons with her ex-stepmother, Violet attracted attention in early November when Lopez's sister Lynda paid a visit to the Yale student at the prestigious Ivy League school.
Garner considered the interaction "odd," as per the insider who mentioned that although the Juno actress preferred to maintain her space, she would never say anything negative about the Wedding Planner star. They noted: "JLo getting close to Violet felt odd to Jen and then Lynda popping up at Violet’s school."
"Jen’s loyalty is to the father of her kids - Ben - and their children. Because they love JLo, but Jen would never badmouth her or speak negatively about her," the source continued. "Everyone knows that if JLo wanted to spend time with her children aside from Violet, it would have to go through Jen."
Garner and Affleck share daughter Violet, and two other children, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12. The family recently came together for Thanksgiving to serve meals to homeless individuals in Los Angeles. As for Lopez, she is the mother of twins Max and Emme, who are both 16 years old, and she shares them with her ex-husband, singer Marc Anthony.
