Jennifer Lawrence Steals The Show On The ‘Causeway’ Premiere Red Carpet In A Sheer Black Dress

Jennifer Lawrence seized the spotlight at the BFI London Film Festival last week in a stunning black gown (and no, we’re still not over it!) The Oscar winner, 32, donned an ensemble by Del Core that featured a curve-hugging, sleeveless black dress underneath a sheer, pearl-studded fishnet cape. The Silver Linings Playbook alum chose a piece from the Italian label’s spring 2022 ready-to-wear collection and stepped out in black open-toe sandal heels.
Lawrence graced the UK capital’s festival red carpet to promote her latest critically-acclaimed film, Causeway. The American Hustle actress topped off her elegant get-up with dangly pearl earrings, and rocked smokey silver eyeshadow, radiant blush and highlighter, and a glossy pink lip. Lawrence wore her long, signature dirty blonde tresses up into a chic updo, which drew more eyes to her intricate makeup look.
At the event, Lawrence spoke to attendees, Deadline reports, about her new film, which is an indie drama flick and reminiscent of those she got her start in. Causeway, which the Hunger Games icon not only stars in but also produced, follows a PTSD story “told completely in the present,” that centers around an Afghanistan war vet who suffers from body and brain injuries. Lawrence said that working on the film felt “serendipitous to have the first film of [her] production company be an independent.” She added, “that’s where I got my roots and that’s what I can attribute my entire career to.”
When Lawrence was asked about her hopes for the new film’s impact on the environment with its themes (following other films she starred in like Darren Aronofsky’s Mother! and Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up), she said, “It feels so therapeutic when you’re doing it, because you feel, ‘How is this not going to make sense or change minds or inspire something?’ And then it comes out and everybody just kind of throws their popcorn away and drives away in their Ford F-150s. Honestly, the truth is there isn’t a whole lot that we can do personally to help climate change. It’s not having a lot of effect on our government is the biggest problem,” she noted.
Causeway will hit both theaters and Apple TV+ on November 4th.
