Jennifer Lawrence looks almost unrecognizable in the trailer of her brand new movie, Don’t Look Up. We had to do a double take when we saw her dramatic new look!
The 31-year-old Oscar-winner is no stranger to changing her appearance for her movie roles, so it doesn’t surprise us to learn that she has debuted yet another new look, this time for her role in Adam McKay’s upcoming Netflix comedy film, Don’t Look Up.
Lawrence – who is currently pregnant with her and husband Cooke Maroney’s first child – looks worlds away from her usual self; we barely recognized her! The Mother! actress is sporting a very different hairstyle, as her traditional blonde locks have been swapped for red hair instead; complete with red bangs, no less! That’s not even the most shocking part of her edgy new look, as the Hunger Games star is also sporting a nose ring. We kind of love it – as did the majority of social media.

Don’t Look Up has an all-star cast – just wait ’til you read who is in it – and is about a pair of astronomers (Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio, who play the roles of Dr Kate Dibiasky and Dr Randall Mindy, respectively) who are on a mission to warn mankind about a comet that’s on its way to destroy Earth. Sounds potentially funny, but also potentially terrifying.
Adam McKay has previously directed comedies such as Anchorman and Step Brothers, as well as historical fiction dramas such as The Big Short and Vice – and it looks like Don't Look Up, which he has also written, will be a mixture of both genres.
We weren’t kidding when we said the film had an all-star cast, as joining Lawrence and DiCaprio are Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Ariana Grande, Ron Perlman, and Kid Cudi. As you can imagine, the internet was beside itself with excitement when the full cast list was announced.

We feel the same way! The trailer really whets our appetite for the film, as many of the famous faces can be seen in their new roles. Lawrence's character looks like the more chilled of the two astronomers, and can be heard asking for "two glasses of white wine and no judgment", while DiCaprio depicts a very stressed out astronomer, most likely because he is aware of the potential fate of the world. Meryl Streep is the President (but of course!) with Jonah Hill playing her son and a member of her cabinet. Tyler Perry and Cate Blanchett can briefly be seen as the news anchors, while Ron Perlman plays the part of Colonel Ben Drask, and is flying a rocket ship. And Ariana Grande is there in a pair of animal ears; because why not?
Make sure you get Elf and Miracle on 34th Street out the way before Christmas Eve, because Don't Look Up will be available to stream on Netflix from December 24, and you won’t want to miss it!
