Jennifer Lopez Says She's In Her 'Happy Era' Following 'Terrible' Breakup From Ben Affleck

One of the most headline-making couples from the last five years was undoubtedly Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, who surprised the world by reconnecting and getting married following their early 2000s breakup in 2022.

After a few years back together, attending events, posting on social media, and even creating a film together, the couple decided to call things off once more in 2024, with the "Jenny From The Block" singer filing for divorce. Though their divorce was finalized at the beginning of 2025, they continued to deal with legal and real estate drama throughout this year, but remained positive and vague about each other in the press.

Now that they've seemingly moved on and are working on their own projects, Jennifer has been gradually opening up more and more about what her life is like post-divorce, and recently did so in an interview with Tefi Pessoa for the Tefi Talks podcast during the Office Romance premiere in NYC. After Tefi asked the Selena actress what her younger self would think and believe about her now, she explained that she's calling this period of her life "my happy era."

"I call this my happy era," she began. "But two years ago, I was sitting on my balcony with my three best friends, and I had just gone through a terrible time in my life and through a bad breakup, and I was just like, 'I forgot about that little girl.'"

Jennifer Says She's Reconnecting With Her Younger Self Post-Divorce

While reflecting on not only her last split from the Good Will Hunting actor, which did take place two years ago, the mom-of-two opened up about how, during her 'happy era,' she's attempting to reconnect with her younger self. As she continued talking about the concept, also mentioning that she's been in therapy for years following the birth of her twins, Jennifer explained how she's taking on projects with her younger self in mind.

"I had to say to her, 'I love you, I really love you,'" she said. "I love you for all that you've been through all these years with me, and we're still here. And it was like a reconnection with myself."

The Kiss of a Spiderwoman actress also began joking around about how she's using the idea of communicating with her as a "little girl" to further excite her about the future and embrace upcoming opportunities.

"We're hanging out now, like, we're together," she admitted. "We're one again. We're one again, and we dance through the aisles, and we're having a good time...Like, don't miss this moment. Put on your fancy dress and let's go!"
