Jennifer Lopez revealed that she still has PTSD from her first failed relationship with Ben Affleck, which resulted in them calling off their engagement in 2002, breaking up, and going on to marry other people. There is still a lot of media attention surrounding Lopez and Affleck’s marriage. Jennifer Lopez Opens Up About Her And Ben Affleck's Relationship
The Marry Me actress will be revealing a lot about her relationship – past and present – with the 51-year-old Gone Girl actor in her highly-anticipated This Is Me… Now album and accompanying film, which are both due to be released next month. And she treated fans to even more insight into their relationship in an interview with Variety.
In the candid interview, the Delola founder said she and the Deep Water actor "both have PTSD" from their relationship the first time around, but suggested that they have learned from it. "But we're older now. We're wiser," she continued, adding: "We also know what's important, what's really important in life, and it's not so much what other people think. It's about being true to who you are."
The Hustlers star explained how she initially faced criticism from some members of her team when she told them that she wanted to spill every detail about her and Ben's love story in her soon-to-be-released album and film, but revealed that she ultimately wanted to follow her heart.
"As artists, we have to follow our heart and this is me following my heart and doing something that maybe everybody didn't think was the best idea, but I had to do it," she confessed. February 16th can't come soon enough!
