Jennifer Lopez made some fans do a double take after she recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Tonight to promote her latest multimedia project, This Is Me… Now.
After the outlet shared a clip of Lopez, 54, discussing her new film and studio album on TikTok, viewers noticed that the singer had a minimal makeup look, with some thinking she looked “unrecognizable” and “different.”

In the video, Lopez spoke candidly about her on-again, off-again relationship with her now husband, Ben Affleck, and some fans speculated that her tone and appearance were a result of him "aging" her. The interviewer asked Lopez about her 2002 album: "This Is Me...Then was released over 20 years ago — what was it like reflecting back on that time and then reuniting with Ben [Affleck] and being inspired to do more new music?"
The "On the Floor" hitmaker replied: "When Ben and I got back together, it was just like 'I want to make music again and I want to get back in the studio.'" The Shotgun Wedding actress added: "I was very very inspired. The same way This Is Me...Then captured that moment in time without me realizing it, the first time we fell in love, I wanted to capture this moment in time."
For the interview, Lopez donned a sleek black, long-sleeved, turtleneck top, a matching fedora and shiny gold hoop earrings. As for her glam, she wore her signature caramel-colored tresses in an elegant ponytail beneath her hat. For her makeup, the JLo Beauty mogul sported a more minimal eye look with subtle gray eyeshadow, rosy blush on her high cheekbones and a glossy pink pout.
Fans headed to the post's comments section to share their thoughts. "I feel like she did her own makeup…. Like she didn’t even put on lashes or atleast mascara… like she tried it!" one wrote as another added: "I like seeing these interviews with not a lot of makeup or filter and seeing her naturally age." Someone else replied: "I didn't recognize her at first" as one other concurred: "I didn't recognize her at first."
Lopez and Affleck, 51, as fans know, rekindled their romance after almost two decades since their initial relationship made headlines in the early 2000s. The Marry Me star and Argo alum first crossed paths on the set of the film, Gigli, in 2002 and later got engaged, and ultimatley split up in 2004. After seemingly moving on with their lives, they reunited in the spring of 2021. Lopez and Affleck tied the knot in a Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022.
Some in the TikTok comments accused Affleck of "aging" Lopez. "Ben has aged her," one wrote as someone else quipped: "She is obsessed with Ben." Others, however, disagreed and pointed out just how "naturally stunning Lopez is whether all-glammed up or in her more laid-back moments.
"She’s 54! Get over it! She’s got a lil wrinkle here and there…she looks great even with less makeup," one wrote as another commented: "She looks beautiful embracing her age she looks more natural and more her age she’s glowing."

"Once the music [for This Is Me... Now] was done, it felt so special to me," Lopez revealed to Entertainment Tonight. "It felt like something very different [from anything] that I had ever done, even though I've written about love my whole career," she continued. "This was something a little bit more evolved and healed and kind of magical so I wanted to do something special to go along with it."
