Jessica Alba offered an honest glimpse into her marriage with Cash Warren during an episode of Katharine Schwarzenegger‘s podcast last year, revealing that they had grown more like “roommates.” This revelation came less than a year before their separation in 2025.

This week, it was announced that the Fantastic Four actress, 43, and film producer, 45, are splitting up and heading for a divorce after nearly 17 years of marriage and raising three children together. Now, fans are revisiting Alba’s interview from last year in light of the couple’s recent breakup.

Jessica Alba Reflects on Feeling Like 'Roommates' with Then-Husband Cash Warren in a Throwback Interview

“I would say it’s all rosy for two-and-a-half years,” the Honest Company co-founder told Schwarzenegger, 35, in April 2024. Alba went on: “But then after that you become roommates. You're just going through the motions, the responsibilities. It's a lot of like checking the boxes.”

The Golden Globe nominee candidly explained that raising their three children—16-year-old Honor, 13-year-old Haven, and 7-year-old Hayes—while juggling her career and business frequently caused her relationship with Warren to take a back seat. “I think that he probably gets the short end of the stick,” she confessed.

The Dark Angel alum went on: “I would say we‚ it's not even him, I would say it's us, right? Because when I'm seeing him and spending time with him, and we're like really like enjoying each other, it's an us thing. And it feeds me as well.” Alba continued: “We used to do every Wednesday we're going to do date night, or every week we're gonna set aside a time—we're gonna at least do date night, right? We won't have our phones and we'll just like talk. But then that stopped because whatever, and so we're just not consistent.”

Alba emphasized the significance of open communication and avoiding letting issues build up until they become unmanageable. She humorously noted that despite being married to Warren since 2008 and having spent 17 years together, they occasionally would still allow that to occur.

The Good Luck Chuck star also shared: “We have, obviously, the friendship, the comfort of like, ‘You're not going anywhere. And so sometimes you don't treat those people the best. You don't consider their feelings in the way that that you would consider other people's feelings. So that is something that I think is a constant one to work on.”

Warren also previously admitted to feeling "jealous" at the beginning of his relationship with Alba. He was a guest on iHeartPodcast's Whine Down with Jana Kramer in 2023, where he remembered that he and Alba had a short breakup after four years of dating due to jealousy issues. He recalled: "When we first started dating I was really jealous of other guys and the attention she was getting from other guys. It just wasn’t making me feel good."

The Pair of Thieves co-founder responded to inquiries about managing a relationship with a prominent celebrity. "I was always a pretty confident person in my own [life], walking my own path and really happy there, and next thing you know I’m looking up and feeling jealous all the time."

Warren went on: "I was like, ‘I hate feeling like this. It doesn’t make me feel good, and I know it doesn’t make you feel good.’ And we broke up four years into our relationship. We broke up. It was the jealousy. I was turning into an a------, and so we broke up," he said. Warren mentioned that during his time apart from Alba, he vowed to discover "productive " method to direct that energy if they got back together.

TMZ noted this week that Alba and Warren are now "moving forward with divorce." The outlet also reported that the mom of three was spotted at a pre-Golden Globes party at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood over the weekend without Warren and without her ring. The publication shared that Warren too has been seen without his wedding ring recently as well.

The duo, who have since become estranged, first crossed paths in 2004 during the filming of Fantastic Four. Alba was one of the film's main stars, while Warren served as an assistant to the director. Their engagement followed in 2007, and they tied the knot a year later in a modest ceremony at a Beverly Hills courthouse.
