Jessica Simpson revealed some surprising health news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, March 30. While promoting her personal essay for Amazon’s Original Stories, the 40-year-old shared that she had previously tested positive for coronavirus.
The essay, titled “Take the Lead,” focuses on “self-acceptance, parenthood and overcoming fear.” It also touches on the difficulties of this past year. And, for Simpson, those challenges included a Covid-19 diagnosis.
"We have all been handed challenges and fears in our lives that, at times, felt like too much to overcome. This past year has been especially intense for me and so many of you," Simpson wrote.

"I started writing this essay on the same day I received a positive test result for COVID-19," she continued, "I decided instead of being driven by fear, I would manifest a hopeful conversation with you. I felt strong, resilient, and God- inspired through my pen teaching me as I was sharing with you ways to get to the other side of fear."
The essay – and, presumably, more details on her experience with Covid – comes out April 29.
Fans were quick to praise Simpson in the comments section. One wrote, "Beautiful! Thank you for always sharing your story! God bless you always."
Another commented, "Absolutely loved your book! I can't wait for this."
Simpson's 2020 memoir, Open Book, offered fans a very candid view of her life, including past sexual abuse, her struggle with addiction, and her divorce from Nick Lachey.
And it sounds like many of her supporters are looking forward for more heartfelt honesty in her new essay.
