Jessica Simpson Puts Work First
Jessica Simpson didn't let motherhood and family life take away from her successful career, rather, she's been focusing on her music. A source explained that in 2023, "Jessica relocated to Nashville to work on new music while Eric mostly stayed in L.A. with the kids. They went into it with a plan, but as time went on, it created a lot of tension."
"Eric felt abandoned," the source continued, "while Jess felt she wasn't asking too much, and neither saw the other's point of view."
It also seems they're having financial troubles. In 2022, Jessica finalized a deal to buy back her namesake brand, emptying her stock portfolio and using their home as collateral for a loan to do so. "Jessica had not been that financially insecure in years," the source explained. "Eric and her mother, Tina, had to have a sort of intervention with Jess about her spending habits. She was spending way above her means."
Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson's Marriage Is Heading South
It seems like there's a big lack of communication driving Jessica, 44, and Eric, 45, apart. Eric celebrated his 45th birthday on September 15th, and not only did Jessica not post even a story shoutout for her husband, but she instead posted a video of a preacher talking about forgiveness. "Forgiveness doesn't change the person who hurt you," the preacher in the video said. "Forgiveness changes you."
Many fans think this is not a great sign for their marriage, and a source speaking to Life & Style explained that things aren't looking great. "Jessica and Eric have had a lot of ups and downs. Right now, there's talk that they're on a break, because Jess hasn't been wearing her wedding band or posted anything on social media with Eric in a year. Their marriage seems to be hanging by a thread."
