‘Tone Deaf’: Joe Biden Criticized For Sharing Granddaughter Naomi’s Baby News During Los Angeles Fire Briefing: ‘Read The Room’

President Joe Biden has been slammed for revealing that his granddaughter had given birth to her first child – and his first great-grandchild – during a press conference about the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
Naomi Biden and her husband Peter Neal welcomed their son William Brannon Neal earlier this month, with the official @potus Instagram account sharing a picture of Joe and Jill Biden holding their great-grandson on January 8th.
While the new addition to the Biden family was undoubtedly a very happy moment, the internet didn’t think that the president should have mentioned it during a press conference about the devastating Californis fires, which at the time of writing, have reportedly killed 24 people and forced over 180,000 people to evacuate their homes.
President Biden appeared alongside California Governor Gavin Newsom at the press conference at the Santa Monica fire station, as emergency services updated people about the response to the fires.
“But the good news is, I’m a great grandfather, as of today,” Biden said, adding: “My granddaughter had a full-on baby girl—baby boy. So I’m going to remember this day for a lot of reasons.”
“Read the room, Joe,” slammed one person on X, as a second said he had “terrible awareness.” “Everything is about him. Doesn’t matter what tragic thing is happening to people,” criticized a third X user.
“Anyone else notice how this is just a continuation of Joe Biden always thinking about his own family first, above everything else?” asked a fourth, in agreement, as a fifth added: “He’s so cringe. Omg.”
