Joe Biden is nearing the end of his presidency, and while many are dreading the return of Donald Trump, most can agree it’s time for Joe Biden to retire. The President, 82, has been showing signs of old age for many months now, and his most recent public engagement only emphasized his cognitive decline.
Visiting the Amazon Rainforest, Biden gave a speech about the importance of eliminating deforestation, and while his speech was elegant, his departure was a bit… confusing. After giving his closing remarks, Biden turned from the podium and walked straight into the rainforest. Keep reading for more information.
Joe Biden Walks Into The Amazon Rainforest Following Speech
Biden has made fighting climate change an important cause during his presidency, pushing for cleaner energy and protective legislation, so it’s not surprising that he became the first sitting US President to visit the Amazon Rainforest. There, he met with Indigenous leaders and Nobel Prize-winning scientist Carlos Nobre, and gave a speech about the importance of conservation.
“History is literally watching us now,” he said at the conclusion of his speech. “So let’s preserve this sacred place for our time and forever, for the benefit of all humanity.” As the crowd applauded, Biden turned from the podium and headed to his right, towards the rainforest. Only when he got to the edge of the clearing where the crowd had gathered, he didn’t stop and turn around, rather he kept going, disappearing from view into the rainforest.
The Internet Reacts
While it looks like there were others nearby in his forest passage, many fans are wondering if the President simply got confused and went the wrong way. "So that's who's running the country?" one person asked.
"Bruh, he really just walked off into the jungle lol," wrote another.
Meanwhile, others pointed out that there were other people on the path Joe Biden followed, so there must've been an area unseen by the cameras. "He walked away and turned right down a clear path," one person said. "it's irresponsible reporting!"
"There are clearly other people back there and someone walks out after him," another person agreed. "For some reason they decided to make that area the back stage."
