Donald Trump is less than a week away from the onset of yet another trial, this one surrounding the $130K he paid adult film star Stormy Daniels after their alleged affair. Trump is accused of falsifying business records to cover up the payment, though he’s taken to calling the trial a “Biden Trial” and a “witch hunt.” His lawyers filed a request to delay the trial, claiming there’s no way the jury could be impartial due to the publicity surrounding the case, but Justice Lizbeth González, the judge overseeing the trial, just shot down the request. Donald Trump x Stormy Daniels Hush Money Scandal
Back in 2018, Stormy Daniels publicly claimed that Donald Trump's former attorney, Michael Cohen, had paid her $130,000 to keep quiet about their alleged affair.
The incident, according to Stormy Daniels, occurred during Melania's pregnancy with her and the former president's son, Barron, in 2006, a decade before Trump's presidency. She says they met in Lake Tahoe at a celebrity golf tournament, and he invited her to his hotel suite for dinner, where he showed her a copy of a golf magazine with his face on the cover.
Stormy then recalls saying, "Someone should take that magazine and spank you with it." Allegedly, the former president then "turned around and pulled his pants down a little," which is when Stormy "gave him a couple of swats." Later that evening, Stormy says they had consensual sex.
Donald Trump has denied any relationship with the adult film star, but on Oct. 28th, 2016, Stormy signed an NDA in which she pledged not to publicly discuss any aspect of their relationship in exchange for $130,000.
In 2023, Trump was charged with falsifying business records to cover up the payment, and claims that the $130K was to stop her "false and extortionist accusations."
Judge Denies Donald Trump's Delay Of Trial Request
Earlier this week, Trump's attorneys filed a motion to have his criminal trial delayed, citing, "an impartial jury cannot be selected right now based on prejudicial pretrial publicity."
However, Justice Lizbeth González rejected the request without any explanation. Steven Wu, a member of the district attorney's office, did have something to say about it, though, accusing Trump of "trying to have it both ways" by complaining about the publicity while simultaneously being an instigator and encouraging publicity.
Trump's spokesperson Steven Chung essentially supported Wu's claim with his statement Monday night after the judge's ruling: "President Trump and his legal team will continue fighting against this Biden Trial and all of the other Witch Hunts." Using such provocative and unprofessional language to address the public only really has one goal: to rile up an audience. But the publicity is the problem...
