Julia Roberts Attributes Her Glowing Beauty at 56 To Her Genes And 'Love Of A Good Man'
During her British Vogue cover story debut with screenwriter and interviewer Richard Curtis, the Pretty Woman alum attributed her beau to contributing to her youthful, supple and radiant appearance. "My parents? Both very good genes. Not to say I’m unchanged, because I did see a picture earlier of Tom Hanks and me from a movie, and we looked like we had been ironed," Roberts said when asked about growing older.
When asked by Curtis if she ever resorted to cosmetic enhancements or other ways of maintaining ageless beauty, she joked: "Pickling. I put my head in the jar every other Saturday for 18 hours. It does wonders. The smell is awful."
The My Best Friend's Wedding actress continued: "No – serious answer. Good genes, leading a life that is fulfilling, and I have said this – and I say it usually as kind of a joke – but I do believe in the love of a good man."
Roberts (who shares 19-year-old twins Hazel and Phinneaus and 16-year-old son Henry with Moder) added: "I believe that my husband loves me and cares for me in a way that makes me feel deeply, deeply happy. And anytime you see someone who’s happy, it doesn’t matter how old they are."
The beauty and style icon relayed advice from her past that she still cherishes when thinking about aging. "Anouk Aimée said to me, many years ago when I was very young and it didn’t occur to me that I would ever have a wrinkle, “You live your face in your life until you’re 50, and then you live your life on your face,'" Roberts recalled.
She stressed that her internal happiness directly correlates with her outer beauty while sharing her pro-aging mindset. The Mystic Pizza star appeared on The Today Show last month and praised Moder once more, deeming him "the captain of our ship."
During her segment, Roberts said: "Well, it all starts with Danny Moder, you know? He’s just really our anchor and our person. And in the most beautiful way, the captain of our ship, you know, truly."
While also acknowledging her contributions to their home life, Roberts expressed: "And it’s not, like, giving it all away to him. It’s just that for me, understanding how deeply felt life could be really started with him." (Aww!)
