Kanye Just Confirmed What Everyone With Coachella Tickets Was Afraid Of—Say It Ain’t So!

After threatening to do so before, Kanye West (legally known as Ye) has officially pulled out of his headlining slot at Coachella as fans have taken to social media to express their frustration and disappointment. The rapper, 44, was set to play on both Sundays (April 17th and 24th), but will no longer perform, as Coachella and other multiple outlets reported last week.
Although a reason for this wasn’t previously indicated, a source close to Ye reportedly told E! News that the Donda musician dropped out of the festival in order to “to focus on himself.” The source continued, “It’s a lot of pressure and stress on him right now.” The source also apparently noted that he wishes to “repair” his relationship with Kim Kardashian, 41, amid their divorce and after his very public disdain for her boyfriend Pete Davidson, 28, seemed to hinder their dynamic even more.
A separate source close to Kanye also reportedly said to E! News that he has changed his approach and mindset to his breakup by “trying to stay removed and listening to the people around him for now.” The second source continued, “On some level, Kanye knows that what he was doing wasn’t working […] His new rep encouraged him to stay off of social media and the internet. It is extremely unhealthy for him.”
The second insider also added that while the Grammy winner has taken a closer look at his social media and continues to rethink the way he uses it, his main priority and focus is on his children: North, 8, Saint, 6, Psalm, 4, and Chicago, 2. “He loves his kids and will do anything for them,” the source said. “He wants to protect them and feels like that is what he is trying to do.”
Coachella announced that The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia will be taking Ye’s place and that its fellow headliners, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish are still set to perform at their scheduled times.
