Kim Kardashian and Kanye West have definitely had a lot of ups and downs in their relationship–especially recently–but the A-list couple started that way too.

Kanye first fell for Kim while she was still with Kris Humphries. He even tried to convince her not to marry him! And according to Kim, one of Kanye’s older songs actually has lyrics from a note that he wrote her on her 30th birthday–back when she was still with her NBA player beau.

Kim tweeted the sweet moment earlier this week.

Cue the swooning!

She also posted the photos to Instagram with a slightly more detailed caption, celebrating the 10 year anniversary of Kanye's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy album.

She wrote, "For those that don't know the story behind 'Lost In The World'...Kanye couldn't come up with some of the lyrics but then realized he had then [sic] in a poem he had written me that was my birthday card he gave me for my 30th birthday. He took the poem he wrote me and made it the song. I keep everything!"

The lyrics on the song match the card. West raps, "You're my devil, you're my angel / You're my Heaven, you're my Hell / You're my now / you're my forever / You're my freedom, you're my jail / You're my lies, you're my truth / You're my war, you're my truce."

This is not the only time Kanye has shown love to Kim in his music--and it's also not the first time he's admitted to being smitten while Kim was still taken.

His 2012 song "Cold" also references Kim and Kris.

West raps, "And I'll admit, I had fell in love with Kim / Around the same time she had fell in love with him."

The song continues, "Well that's cool, baby girl, do ya thang / Lucky I ain't had Jay drop him from the team."

Although West's methods might have been untraditional, they worked; the two went public with their relationship later that year.
