Kate Middleton and Prince William will be spending some time apart this month. No, they aren’t splitting up, they’re just embarking on a three-day tour of Britain on the Royal Train! The cozy accommodations offer “his and hers” single beds, so it looks like the couple will be getting a little space as they take in the beautiful English sites.
The pair boarded the Royal Train last weekend, touring Britain and stopping in several cities throughout England, Wales and Scotland to connect with the people and hear personal stories about their coronavirus experience and how the pandemic has changed their lives. The idea of the trip is to interact with those who have been most affected by the pandemic and have “gone above and beyond” in the words of a source. The pair will meet with teachers, front line workers and volunteers to acknowledge the sacrifices that people have made this year as England suffered through the pandemic.
The Royal Train is a family tradition even outside of the pandemic, but this will be Kate’s first time aboard. Prince William has had his fair share of adventure on the old train, but his brother, Prince Harry, has notably never taken a ride. The first stop on the three-day trip was Edinburgh, Scotland, before the couple stopped in Newbridge to speak with front line responders for the coronavirus pandemic.
The Royal Train is made up of nine carriages, originally decorated by Queen Victoria to look similar to Buckingham Palace. While Prince William and Kate will be sleeping in separate beds, their shared bedroom also boasts a private bath and a 12-seat dining room--that’s living in luxury!
The pandemic has taken quite a toll on communities across the world, so we’re sure the people of England will appreciate the show of recognition from the Royal Family as to the tough times they’ve been faced with and the sacrifices they’ve had to make. While it doesn’t change the current situation, a visit from the Royal Train should definitely brighten spirits!
