Kate Middleton is a classic beauty, and over the years in the spotlight, she has perfected her manicured look. And although the Duchess of Cambridge is pretty loyal to her polished appearance, that does not mean she never experiments.
Lately, Kate has started adding more blonde to her rich brunette locks, and the new highlights have added the perfect amount of dimension to her usually dark tresses. Although we usually see the opposite–darker hair in winter and lighter hair in summer–we have to say we love Kate’s updated look!
Check out her new look here.
What do you think of Kate's lighter locks?
The Duchess showed off her new 'do on Instagram in a video for Kensington Royal where she spoke about the Queen's Hold Still campaign.
It's not the first time Kate has surprised us with a new hair look; she also experimented with lighter highlights last fall, so it's looking like the Duchess has developed a hair trend of her own, diverting the typical trend of going darker for winter.
We caught a first look at Kate's new hair over Instagram when she posted a video thanking those who participated in the Hold Still campaign, which was launched as a way to show how the United Kingdom was handling lockdown.
The caption for the video read: "Thank you for being part of #HoldStill2020! The portraits that illustrate your stories and experiences of lockdown have shown just how much communities have come together during this difficult year...To our partners, the judges, and most importantly everyone who submitted an image to Hold Still - thank you for making this project possible."
Kate's new hue is more subtle than the celeb hair transformations that we're used to seeing, but that might have more to do with royal protocol than anything else.
According to Vogue, members of the royal family should keep their hair looking natural: "Royal hair should look effortlessly and naturally beautiful, silky smooth, and neat, even when pulled into a ponytail."
In Kate's case, it seems like some natural highlights are the happy medium, keeping the Duchess' look fresh without going overboard.
