Kate Middleton gave everyone a lesson on statement-making sustainable fashion when she and husband Prince William attended the second annual Earthshot Prize Awards in Boston on Friday, December 2nd – and as always, we’re taking notes!
Kate Middleton Wears Bright Green Solace London Dress To Earthshot Prize Awards
For the event that was held to honor environmental heroes, which came at the end of their highly-anticipated U.S. tour, the new Princess of Wales, 40, wore a bright green long-sleeved Solace London 'Sabina' evening gown, with an off-the-shoulder Bardot neckline and a knee-high slit at the back! We love how she can still exude the utmost class and elegance when slightly bending the rules as far as strict royal protocol is concerned. If anyone can do it well – Kate can!

Perhaps the most fascinating part of the dress – aside from the bold and striking color which is something we have never seen her wear, hence why it took us by complete surprise! – is that she actually rented it from Hurr! As the Earthshot Prize awards focus on the planet, the Prince and Princess of Wales ensured that the majority of their tour wardrobe consisted of either existing outfits, vintage pieces, or outfits from sustainable fashion brands. And the Princess of Wales certainly ticked those boxes, as not only did she rent the dress for the duration of the tour, but Solace London is actually a well-known sustainable brand; so win win!
The Princess of Wales' Accessories
The accessories were just as wow-worthy as the dress itself, as the Duchess of Cambridge accessorized with some sparkly Gianvito Rossi 'Rania 105' embellished pumps, Asprey London emerald and diamond earrings, to really bring out the green tones of the dress, and Queen Mary’s Art Deco emerald choker, which was perhaps the hero piece of the entire look.

The History Behind The Emerald Choker
The choker was a part of the 'Delhi Darbar Parure' and was reportedly given to Queen Mary by Ladies of India back in 1911. It was then given to the late Princess Diana by the late Queen Elizabeth II shortly after her wedding to the then Prince Charles.
Princess Diana was very fond of the choker and wore it on many occasions, including the time she famously wore it as a headband in 1985 when touring Australia with Prince Charles, and also on her 36th birthday when she visited the Tate Gallery. It was returned to the royal vault after her death in 1997. This is the first time Kate has worn it, but given how stunning it looks on her, we doubt it will be the last!
